Traditional food in a traditional restaurant

A place to relax and dine on hearty, local dishes

Starji Fijaker is a well known, older restaurant, where you can find an authentic, Zagreb-Zagroje menu, making it the perfect destination to dine for good Zagreb traditional dishes. Stari Fijaker is a family owned business that is located on Mesnička street, in the center of Zagreb, just steps away from the main shopping street of Illica. On the way up to the Upper Town, it sits near the entrance of the cobblestone street, near Grič, a public tunnel that can take you from one side of the Centre, to the other..

Some typical dishes are Zagorski soup, Sarma which is cabbage rolls made with soured cabbage, Krvavci kobace which is black sausage, or turkey with milince. There is also an abundant serving of homemade breads and pastries like corn bread, pivnički klipići (breadsticks), pogačice od čvaraka (scone bread with bacon bits) and many others.

Sausages, pork rashers with sarma, mashed potatoes and sour shredded cabbage

Apple strudel for dessert - this was half the portion. We were so full that we decided to share. They kindly served it on two plates.
